Sunny Side won't have problems

In the past few months we have noticed that several hobbyest have been having serious problems with minors not wanting to pay or finish paying off models that they are buying. Well, we have been re-thinking how to protect ourselves from any headache from a non-paying minor. We are updating our "Commissions" page. 

Here are a few things that we will stand by. 
Minors MUST now have permission from a parent. That permission has to be mailed via snail mail before we start any work. Once the letter is received, then the minor must either make a down payment(which will be non-refundable)or pay in full before any work is started. Payment plans are available on either a bi-weekly payment or a monthly payment. 

I hate to see people go through the headache of having a minor cheat them out of money. 

Now I know there are adults who do the same thing and that part of the works is being worked out.

Now on to other news.

I have decided to do another "You guess the size" on a costume Not sure if I am going to take 40% off the asking price of $150.00. 
Yes I am pricing my costumes that high cause of all the work I put into them. They are so worth it though and several people will tell you that they are. The costume will run for the month of March. 

Another LB costume done!!

Yup you read right, I did another LB costume. This time though I held a contest. People were to guess the size of it and I would take 40% off the $90.00 asking price. Well, with just 2 entries. Only one got it right on. And that was Kollean. Here is the pictures of her new costumes

 As you can see, I decided to put 3 tiny tassels on the head drape. I personally like the way it turned out.

 I sure do wish I had my soldering iron. Then I could make the bit more stable instead of using glue.

 This brow band is my first(but NOT last). Now that I look at it more closely, I see the right side of it is just a bit bigger than the left side. OOPS LOL

Anyway, I will be holding another "Guess The Size" contest in a few months. But first I have few presentation sets to make. Back orders that belong to Kollean. LOL

Graph afghans, Not easy, but not hard either

Hello everyone. Happy New Year. Yea I know I am 5 days late, but I have been rather busy and plus my New Year resolution was to stay off the computer as much as possible. It is working so far. Plus I have been crocheting a baby blanket for a great niece. Don't have any pictures right now, But as soon as I get done, I will post one. 

I just recently learned about "Graph" afghans via a post on Facebook. It struck my interest and I thought I would dive in and try one. Several people told me that I needed to start with a simple SMALL black and white one first. Yea right!!! Not this chick. I go for the hard stuff first. I started with a medium size, 3 color graph. LOL!!!! I had to watch several video's on YouTube just to get past the first color change. OMG!! I was like, You have got to be kidding me!!?? Well with a little practice and persistence, I am getting my first one done. I plan on making one for the hubby, hopefully I will have it done by his birthday. He loves eagles, so I am making one of an eagle in full flight. Colors are simple: White, Heather Grey, Light Grey, Black, Yellow, Gold and Cornmeal. 
Yea, that is a lot of colors, but the Yellow,Gold and Cornmeal are only a few stitches. Nothing like the white and other colors. 

Plus I am doing a TWH graph afghan for Joyce Savage(though she don't know that it is actually for her). Yes, she has seen the photo, but I just showed it to her cause like me, she loves the TWH in the "Rack" This picture I picked too doesn't show the hoof stacks that are on the "Big Lick" TWH's. This guy looks proud. I told her that I was making an afghan from the picture, but left out the fact that it is next years Christmas present to her. The reason is cause of all the bull crap she had to put up with when she had Stone do a Racking TWH. People laid in on her about promoting the soreing process that goes on in the real world. Geesh, a model is a model, not a real horse. I won't go into details. Well, until next time

What a Christmas............

Well my Christmas wasn't to good. Woke up this morning and found out that we have to replace the 12v battery on our RV. Can't run the furnace cause it is drawing to much power. I am hoping that the parts store in town will be open today and we can get a new battery, but with this being Christmas, I doubt they will be open. So, now we are bundled up and cold. 

Hubby loved his few presents I did get him. But for some reason I feel he is blaming me for the battery problem. So this morning I have been looking online for houses that are for sale. Found 2 of them, but the price is just out of our range and I don't think Green Tree would allow us to take on a second mortgage. But it never hurts to ask. So I guess I will be asking them this week. The only thing they can say is "NO!" 

That would be my luck. Plus I have been trying to get it set up for auto pay with them for nearly a year now and the darn website keeps saying that I don't qualify. So every 3 months, I get a call from them and we set up the e-check thing. I keep telling them that their web site says that we don't qualify for auto pay, but they say we do. Confusing. I think as soon as we get that house in Pampa paid off, I am going to sell it for cheap, cheap, cheap. We were going to remodel it, but with Daniel's hellish hours, there is no way we can get it done. Getting a contractor to come do it is going to cost us an arm and a leg. For just the electrical (wiring etc) it is going to cost us $1500.00, For the drywall and insulation: $4,000.00. The total cost to fix up the house is going to cost us close to $10,000.00. That also includes all the plumbing. When we bought the house we thought it was ready to move into. We didn't know that we would have to practically rebuild the damn thing. I just hope that when we do sell it, that someone will buy it and be ready to rebuild.

Merry Christmas!!

Yup, Merry Christmas everyone. I hope that 2014 was a better year for you than it was for me. Some of 2014 was good, but as we know that it did have it's bad days/months. I hope you also got many presents that contained model horses(would love to see them). I won't be getting any this year cause my 2 presents was our water heater and our furnace. Plus I am expecting 2 years of payments on models from Nicky Petrie. She said she would mail them off after Christmas. Hey that is fine with me. The hubby is none to happy, he will accuse me of spending high dollar amounts for them when I have been making payments. The man just don't get it. 

He thinks that I don't need anymore models, EVER. But yet he demands more and more tools. He has 9 drills, 12 saws(both manual and electronic), 9 grease guns, and numerous amounts of sockets and wrenches. But yet he wants more and more. I figure that with all those tools, he has spent more than $6,000.00 in one year. Some of them are NOT cheap. The most expensive tool he owns is his large crescent wrench. $500.00 that he bought earlier this year. And he bitches about me buying a $200.00 model. He says that the horses don't produce work. They just sit there and look stupid. There have been plenty of times where I wanted to take that $500.00 wrench and use it up against his head. But then I think that my models won't be stolen anytime soon where as some of his tools have gone missing after a few days(some of the employees here). I have to laugh. 

Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Time to go out and get his presents. 

Getting back into photo showing

After a year of horrid photo shows and having young ones tell me that my photo's are NOT up to today standards(which they are), I have decided to renew my membership fee's to IPABRA. Hey $3.00 a year is great. So I have to judge a few shows. At least I won't have some young UNEDUCATED kid screaming down my throat cause her photo was not champion. I have tried to explain to them that I have been in this hobby much longer than they have and have MUCH more knowledge then they do. I guess they think different. 

 The above photo has some serious faults. First off, the fence is seriously OUT OF SCALE. And the grass is to out of scale. The photo looks to be taken at an angle. The lighting is good, no harsh shadows etc. The tack could use some updating, but i'm guessing this is a "Novice" showers photo. 
Yes some showers don't put a whole lot of effort into getting good photos and then bash those who do put some serious time and effort into getting a good photo.

I know that the back drop could be better, but the horse IS in focus and shows the detail quite well. But yet this photo was DQ'd.
I have like I said, tried to keep from letting my temper show through, but sometimes it is best that I did.
